Last week we got to spend a few hours with my old high school chum, Dan Piraro. Dan does the syndicated comic strip Bizarro. He also is a motorcycle geek and rides a cool old BMW, plus still owns a Vespa he bought brand new in 1980.
But his visit to Tulsa was not to test drive a motorcycle- go figure.
Dan does this comedy show where he tells jokes, plays a little music, ponders life and draws cartoons in front of a live audience. If that sounds lame let me clarify- it's not, it is funny as shit.
Now add in the fact this gig was at the Elk's Lodge- yeah, the Elk's Lodge in Tulsa- and you have all the makings of a David Lynch movie. But a damn funny one. I digress... back to the motorcycles.
When I found out he was going to be in town I asked if he would like to get together, strap on and ride around some of the old T-Town haunts. His response was, and I quote: DUDE that would be AWESOME. So we contacted our homies down at Brookside M/C to set up Mr. Bizarro with something fitting for a cigar-chomping cartoonist. And the rest, as they say, is available in living color on this brief video clip:
